Remastered re-release of Soul Jazz Records seminal Arthur Russell compilation across three heavy vinyls. Featuring beloved solo and group tracks from Dinosaur L and Loose Joints, it also holds rare 7" tracks and edits from Larry Levan, Françcois Kervorkian and Walter Gibbons. An incomporable artist, this is totally essential release!
"A Communication through beats" - Beautiful beat tape to celebrate the life of the incomparable Ras G from friend and fellow producer Kutmah. He would be proud! One for the Ras heads, well worth the pickup.
Written after a trip home to Swaziland, now known as eSwatini, the Brownswood Future Bubblers artist Sydney recorded the sounds of life there after completing studies of sonic signatures and comparison of traditional instruments around the world. Oozing with an authentic and rich atmosphere, Sydney has crafted seven deep and spiritual cuts with indigenous percussion, tumbling drums and rich spoken word samples. Broken beats with drifting sax lines, horizontal deep house and jazzy hip-hop all contribute to making this an ode to a special place, and people. BIG recommend!
Recorded with just a mic, Korg MS20 (synth), hang drum and field recorder, ‘Moon Phase Gardening’ is conceptually framed around how the lunar cycle affects plant growth. With stunning results, this record dissects indigenous South American and Afro-Latin rhythms into deep percussive workouts wrapped in electronic jilts and vocal fragments. A stunner release from Music From Memory's more left-field sibling label, Second Circle.
Iconic Italo dance label Best Record pulls out some peak disco across two sensual floor-fillers. Italian musician Giampiero Scalamonga was a popular disco hitmaker through the 70s, but his 1979 'Body To Body' LP was his crown jewel. The A-side is hot boogie full of synth, funky bass and Nile Rogers-esque guitar, and on the flip, 'African Love Song' (a Studio 54 staple) is a huge club burner, full of strings, horns and lustful crooning. Heat!
