Other Lands aka Gavin L. Sutherland delivers a stunning second LP with long-time pals Athens Of The North. Gavin's concept was to create something that worked equally in the wilds of the Western Isles and in the sunnier spots of the world that we often yearn for. In playing with the idea of groups of islands, of archipelagos the world over, it became about people experiencing isolation individually, while still feeling a sense of community with those of shared experience. Using synths, drum machines and layered loops and tones, the result is a beautiful, spontaneous, timeless and honest meditation on what it is to be at once both alone and part of a larger whole.
Ibiza mainstay DJ Harvey's 3rd and final Balearic-tinged dance compilation. Deep grooves and sunset shufflers galore! Must check the dubbed-out and string-laden edit of 'Love And Happiness'. Big one!
Meditative, ambient, circular and electronic house from the ever-distinct Osunlade, known for his deep blending of soulful and almost folk-like textures in house and electronic music. Great stuff.
Massive overview of underground Japanese techno legends Cycheouts, pioneers in early Japanese jungle, DnB, noise and all things electronically experimental. First time on wax for most cuts!
Modern classic ambient release from Gigi Masin, Jonny Nash and Young Marco! Whereas its predecessor 'Clouds' was intimate by design, 'The Distance' reflects more on spaciousness, distance and time. Masin's masterful piano + synthesizer and Nash's blissful, meandering guitar make for timeless work.
