Strut and Art Yard present the culmination of a 5-year project researching the archives of author, DJ and activist John Sinclair with the first-ever retrospective of the influential Detroit Artists Workshop spanning 1965 to 1978. Dormant in the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Brooklyn for many years, Strut and Art Yard began their research into the archives in 2017. The result is a revelation for any fan of jazz, featuring previously unreleased recordings by Byrd, Moore, English, Woodard, Bennie Maupin and Teddy Harris accompanied by extensive sleeve notes. All tracks are remastered from the original tapes by Technology Works. HEAVY!

Invisible City Editions reissue (with booklet) a totally stunning Spiritual Jazz LP by D.C native Jeff Majors. A combination of gorgeous harp and kalimba (thumb piano) playing, drum machines, synth lines and vocal layers. Includes a serene cover of John Lennon's 'Let It Be'! Fun fact, Jeff was one of Alice Coltrane's students at the Ashram and played in Brother Ah's band! Beautiful release!
French saxophonist Laurent Bardainne summons the spirit of Pharaoh Sanders on this groove-heavy, astral jazz odyssey. Deep, life-affirming, cinematic, funky, soulful, free-flowing... this one has it all.
Australia's own Left Ear Records have selected two gorgeous cuts to represent mysterious Sydney singer Justine from her unreleased 1979 album. Tinges of disco and soul grace the breezy A side, and on the flip a building ten-minute groove, sounding like a funkier Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. A deep and special piece of Australian soul recording.
