DJ/producing sensation X CLUB keep it local and turn to Brisbane label Beats Of No Nation to release their new alter ego. Like the name suggests, this heady debut packs a lot into its lengthy 4 cuts - with plenty of breaks, woozy dub, deep synths and even a touch of street-soul. Tip!
Incredible spiritual jazz reissue by D.C native Jeff Majors (former student of Alice Coltrane at Ashram). A beautiful and unique mix of harp, kalimba (thumb piano), drum machines, synths and vocal layering. Includes a serene cover of 'Let It Be' and and interview with the artist!
Planet Trips 4th outing spotlights 4 club-focused jams from the group's recent heavy output on soFa, channelling influences from their diverse tastes and effortlessly marrying hypnotic percussion, Middle Eastern rhythms and machine funk psychedelia into their very own style no style. Total heater!
PT005 sees NYC-based Gee Dee deliver the fifth physical disc on Planet Trip, 'Key of Sea EP'. A freaky four-tracker of cosmic-influenced melters, effortlessly moving through hazy and dub-influenced housey cuts, balearic-tinged earworms and oddball downtempo trips. Suitable for sunsets with friends or late nights with strangers, a record with a tune for all hours of the dance. Limited to strictly 300 copies, no repress. Get it while it's here!
The final part in the epic nu-jazz triptych by Australia's own, GODTET. The ending chapter to three dynamic, organic, and celebrated years of music making is marked by a return to the purely improvised and live compositions that the first release was built on. As explained by Godriguez, brainchild of GODTET - "It's interesting comparing the first record and GODTET III. Both came from open improv but are quite different. You really can hear a distinct subconscious concept of what the GODTET sound is or has become. You can hear 3 years of intensive playing, recording and gigging. GODTET III is the final album of this initial triptych where the GODTET sound was forged. It is the end of an era."
