Perth label Ono enlist the help of local mate and producer Guy Contact for their second release. On the A side, we're treated to choral synths, downtempo trance, chugging rhythms, gentle acid and a sprinkling of new age. On the flip, Guy turns it up with 90’s prog-house mania, lashings of acid and circuit tweaking bleeps.

Written after a trip home to Swaziland, now known as eSwatini, the Brownswood Future Bubblers artist Sydney recorded the sounds of life there after completing studies of sonic signatures and comparison of traditional instruments around the world. Oozing with an authentic and rich atmosphere, Sydney has crafted seven deep and spiritual cuts with indigenous percussion, tumbling drums and rich spoken word samples. Broken beats with drifting sax lines, horizontal deep house and jazzy hip-hop all contribute to making this an ode to a special place, and people. BIG recommend!
Venice native musician Gigi Masin self-released two modestly pressed LPs 'Wind' (1986) and 'Wind Collector' (1991), neither of which gained any sales or awareness. Seemingly by word of mouth, his music has recently developed into something of a cult following. Masin's productions are intricate, deeply emotive and contemplative and sometimes include sparse and hypnotic looping compositions that could be paralleled to early Detroit Techno. Music From Memory has compiled over 30 years of work from the mid-1980s, including 17 unreleased cuts. This is electronic music from the soul.
Another Thought was the first collection of Arthur Russell’s music to be sold after his tragically young death in 1992. Only ever released on CD, this compilation was just the beginning of what took three decades to uncover and understand his gigantic archive of never-before heard works. Lovingly compiled with the help of the '93 cover's original photographer and Arthur's then partner for liner notes, plus Arthur’s lyrics. An essential piece of Arthur Russell's history, an absolute must-have for everybody!
Tornado Wallace & Jamie Tiller's Basic Spirit (named after their popular party series in Berlin) returns with its sophomore effort, this time with Wallace flying solo. The title track is a euphoric ride, featuring emotive vocals and pan-pipes, contrasted by a sinister bassline, all jacked up faster and harder in the Speed Bump mix. On the flip, loved-up sunrise breaks of 'Sea Translation' comes with a gorgeous ambient version. Essential Tornado Wallace!
A personal favourite of mine from the last few years, this sometimes Deep-House and sometimes Hip-Hop record is a real treasure trove of dance-heavy sample-based flavour. Berlin-based producer Martin Georgi critically touches on the social issue of class by using ironic and strange samples as a vessel for his storytelling. Also includes Felipe Gordon and Delfonic to handle two killer deep dance edits and a Ghanaian rap duo on the title track. Deep, wicked stuff.
